Easy Valentine's Day Cookies ~ 12 Easy Heart Cookies (1)

This set was designed with at-home beginner cookiers in mind, so it uses ONE consistency, JUST 3 colors (but I encourage you to use whatever color combo makes you happy!) and just one cookie cutter. Fewer colors, consistencies and cutters means less time prepping and less money spent on supplies. Yes, you heard that right! Now that’s my kind of beginner class!

What makes these easy Valentine’s Day heart cookies so special?

When I set out to design this Beginner Hearts class, I wanted to come up with a set of the most classic designs and techniques that you can find in royal icing. You’ll learn 10 of the most common (and dare I say, iconic) wet on wet designs that I think every cookier should know how to do. Why did I do that? Because by taking this class I wanted you to feel equipped to apply these 12 designs/techniques to many, many more sets and shapes!

In fact, I encourage you to make this set in whatever color palette strikes your fancy! With just three colors, the possibilities are endless. Some have made these cookies for school events (in school colors) and for USA holidays (in red, white and blue). You’ll see in the reviews on the class listing just some of the different color combinations you can use.

As always with my beginner classes, this set uses just one cutter, one consistency and just 3 colors. All of those adjustments mean less money spent on supplies and less time spent prepping. Who doesn’t want that?! Sanding sugar is also included, but it’s totally optional!

Royal icing skills covered in this class:

  • One consistency outline and flood
  • Working with tipless bags (and cutting tipless bags)
  • Piping and flooding with a thick flood
  • Working with sprinkles
  • Wet on wet technique
  • Basic line work with a flood consistency
  • Crackle technique

You will learn how to decorate (from start to finish) TWELVE easy Valentine’s Day heart cookies
